TMPCC Car Show

CarCast starts this weeks tour with the TMPCC car show. We look at movie cars on the CBS Television studios lot in Studio City. We pick up the phone and talk nothing about what the caller is interested in, then we haul you back to the open house at Source Interlink Media for a few more interviews. Enjoy the show!

Issue late last night with the feed, being updated right now. Things should flush out in a bit and should be available in iTunes as well as the on-line player. The download links _are_ working on for the episode if you are really in need of a quick fix ;)

  5. My very first car was a 1980 VW Rabbit Diesel. It altered my driving DNA forever. Over half the cars I’ve owned since then have been Diesels. Back in the mid-80s when I was in college Diesel was half the price of gasoline (60ยข compared to $1.20/gal for unleaded) and with that Rabbit getting 50+ MPG I could drive all over the West for pocket change. Wonderful little car, though never a screamer. Of course back then 55 was the law of the land and some states where I traveled. such as Colorado were VERY strict about enforcement, so in a lot of ways the Rabbit Diesel was the perfect car for those days.

In fact the most outrageous car story I have is actually “outrunning” the highway patrol in that little 49 HP Rabbit…. you can read the story here:

Keep up the good work guys, love the Car Cast.

Loved that Mad Max replica! I was at a Mustang repair shop a couple of weeks ago and they were doing some work on a Mad Max replica. It was a right hand drive Falcon that had been imported to the US. The replica kit was installed by a company in Oregon. They starting it up and flipped on the fake blower.

I can just imagine the guys at the company in Oregon saying “excellent…Mad Max Replicas….we’ll be rich!”

  7. Mike says:

Had the rabbit it was a bitch to start in the winter, 20 degrees or colder it would take 20 minute turning it over. I did run it on home heating oil in warmer months, syphoned it from my apartment building… was shit hole and obviously I was poor.

  8. Gary Goltz says:

When and where will the interview Adam did by my 55 Buick Highway Patrol unit be available? BTW, I meant to tell him that Dr. Drew’s mom starred in a 1955 episode and she was hot! She’s the blond that gets taken hostage. See for yourself at this link

  9. Jayson Lepper says:

Nice Mad Max clone, take away all the add-ons and you have an XB Ford Falcom GT Coup, just 1 of the many muscle cars that were only ever built in Australia. Some are selling for $1M now. Would love for you guys to come down here and taste what real rear wheel drive cars are like. 400+HP in a 4 door family sedan is a normal everyday car down here, 500+HP is the start of the hot ones. Love the podcast, makes the long highway miles so much easier to bear. Cheers!

  10. Jay Mac says:

Any plans on coming to any of the auctions in Phoenix this year? I keep seeing Adam in the ad for Russo & Steele.

  11. Jesse says:

When will the video be posted for this episode?

  12. Craig says:

Where is the video for this episode? I need footage from the ‘Bullitt’ segment to show at my Bullit party next month.

Thanks, and keep up the great work

  13. Thomas says:

I believe that the newer Mercedes AMG’s have a supercharger that is able to be turned on and off using something similar to a Air Conditioning pump clutch. We had a 2007 Mercedes SL55 AMG and it had a supercharger that would activate through the cars computer.

  14. May I just say what a relief to uncover someone that genuinely knows what they’re talking about on the net. You certainly understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people need to read this and understand this side of the story. It’s surprising you’re not more popular since you surely possess the gift.
